Council extends its support to businesses
Telford Business Services, a range of professional services provided to small and medium sized businesses by Telford & Wrekin Council has expanded its offer with a new service.
Switch Telford (www.switch.telford.gov.uk), a free-to-use energy price comparison and switching service, is now available to any business interested in cutting their gas and electricity bills.
Based on the business’ needs and contract options they are interested in switching to, energy experts will find the best prices available on the market as well as set up the new energy contract and manage the entire switching process.
The business switching service adds to the existing range of services the Council offers to businesses, including:
- Let’s Dine – catering service, providing a range of set menus, all prepared within maximum 5* food safety rated premises;
- ICT Services – services ranging from desktop and applications support to one-off ICT projects, to deliver cost effective solutions based on business need;
- Training Services - comprehensive range of high quality training (including health and safety, first aid and food safety courses);
- Advertise in Telford - sponsorship and advertising opportunities (including outdoor and digital advertising platforms) to help businesses reach their target customers.
Cllr Lee Carter, Cabinet Member for Finance, Commercial Services and the Borough Economy said: “The launch of the energy price comparison and switching service, that is free for businesses to use, reinforces our mission to become a one stop shop for a range of different business support services.
“We encourage small to medium businesses to utilise our team’s expertise as the services are of good quality, excellent value for money or even free to use.
““Businesses can be reassured we will meet their needs with the aim to leave them concentrate on their customers.
“The council’s drive to become a more commercial organisation is very important as it can help to limit the cuts we have to make elsewhere.
“In the last year we generated £19.4 million income through our commercial services and we want to grow this in order to sustain and protect front-line services.”
