New Council service helps businesses cut costs
Switch Telford (www.switch.telford.gov.uk), the Council’s free-to-use energy price comparison and switching service, is now available to businesses interested in cutting their bills on gas and electricity.
The Council operates ‘Switch Telford’ in partnership with a leading switching provider.
Launched in spring 2017, Switch Telford has already recorded over 1,400 switches of gas and electricity suppliers, helping households across the borough save hundreds* of pounds on their average household energy bills.
It now also helps businesses to find the best energy deals available on the market and significantly cut their energy costs.
Businesses using this service will be able to work with energy experts for the entire switching process.
Based on the business’ needs and contract options they are interested in switching to, the energy experts will find the best prices available on the market as well as set up the new energy contract.
Cllr Lee Carter, Cabinet Member for Finance, Commercial Services and the Borough Economy said: “Whether they are small, medium or large - what businesses pay for their energy needs can significantly influence their performance.
“As such, in addition to continuously helping households in and out of the borough save money on their gas and electricity bills, we are offering this service to any business to assist them make informed decisions when it comes to energy costs.
“Switch Telford even handles the process of switching to a new supplier so businesses can focus their time and effort on running their businesses.
“It’s a win-win situation – by using Switch Telford, businesses could significantly cut their energy bills while the Council receives a commission for every switch, which is used to benefit both residents and local businesses, as it supports and sustains council services in the borough .
“The commission is paid to the Council from energy suppliers, the service is free for households and businesses to use and doesn’t affect what people or businesses pay. “
www.switch.telford.gov.uk gives the best possible deals on the market and provides tailored advice on the cheapest tariff for individual households and businesses.
For households, it takes around 5 minutes to switch their supplier, it’s really that simple.
* Between 1 July 2018 and 31 December 2018, at least 10% of people who switched energy supplier for both gas & electricity with Switch Telford’s accredited switching provider saved £447 or more.
