This year is the 70th anniversary of the creation of the NHS and Telford & Wrekin Council is planning to celebrate.

Celebrating 70 years of the NHS

The town centre’s new public square in Southwater will host an event between 12noon and 2pm on Saturday 30 June.

The offer runs from Saturday 30th June – Saturday 7th July

• Free Ice Skating or Half Price Family Ticket
• Free Day pass to use Horsehay Village Golf Centre aspirations health & fitness facilities
• Free round of golf at Horsehay Village Golf Centre (after 12pm) booking required
• Free public swim or family swim
• Half Price Family Ski School session at Telford Ski Centre (2-4pm) - booking required
• Free Family Adventure Golf

To benefit from this local NHS employees will just need to do is show their NHS staff card at entry.

Cllr Shaun Davies, Telford & Wrekin Council Leader, said: “This is our chance to tell all the hardworking health professionals how grateful we are for what they do.

“This is an important time for the health service in Telford and Wrekin, Shropshire and mid Wales. There is a consultation running called ‘Future Fit’ over the future of our local hospitals. There are two options on the table and we favour the one that we believe will best serve everybody.

“If you are in Telford town centre on Saturday 30 June, come and see us and check out the impressive new public square near the water. There’ll be live music, children’s entertainment, a giant birthday card to sign and a cake.

“Councillors will be on hand to explain the Council’s favoured option in the consultation and encourage as many people as possible to complete the ‘Future Fit’ survey.

“In the week that follows, I hope many NHS staff will take advantage of our leisure and entertainment offer to them.

“We are all thankful for the NHS. It has achieved so much in its first 70 years and we want the very best for it, for many years to come.”
