Pride In Our Community improvements - week beginning 26 November 2018

Here’s an update on what our crews are working on this week - improvements to roads, footpaths, street lighting and much more...

Pride In Our Community improvements - week beginning 26 November 2018

Roads – work continues in Brunel Road, Mount Road and Church Road, Malinslee; Waterloo Road, Ketley; and Hollies Road, Steventon Road, Cranage Crescent and Orleton Lane in Wellington. Work is also commencing in Glendale, Lawley and Malinslee Centre. Get live updates on street works and traffic management schemes in Telford here.

Footpaths – improvements continue in Oakengates, Madeley and Hadley.

Residential parking – crews are continuing work on Concorde, Dawley Bank.

Drainage – work starts on A442 Cold Hatton to improve existing drainage and on Wellington Road, Muxton to investigate footway.

Footbridges – work on the footbridge near Mere Grove in Shawbirch will be completed this week.  Crews will then start work at the Priorslee boardwalk later in the week, but closure won’t be implemented until next week.

Winter maintenance – the weather is going to be a bit mixed this week with a potential for some frost and ice. Here’s the Met Office 5 day forecast for Telford.

Potholes - crews are filling potholes that have been reported to us. Please report any potholes you spot here or via the Everyday Telford app.

Street lighting – crews are working on upgrading street lights in Wellington, Wrockwardine, Dawley, Hollinswood and Randlay – depending on how work in these areas progresses, a crew may also head out to Newport. As the teams upgrade the street lights in each area, they inspect each column and light first.  In some cases, the column needs replacing and so it will be at this point that the new LEDs are installed.  Some are in need of further inspection, and so these too are being done later.  The full LED programme will be completed by April 2019. If you have a question about street lighting, please email streetlighting@telford.gov.uk.

Improvements in Hollies Road and surrounding area in Wellington – continues until mid-December. Temporary road closures are in place, but are being phased in order to keep disruption to local residents & businesses to a minimum. More information, including FAQs and contact details here.

Grounds maintenance and litter picking – crews are out clearing leaves, winter pruning and clearing shrub beds.  You can report a grounds maintenance issue here. Anyone wanting to report an issue with littering in their area can do so here.

Street Champions – our volunteers are doing a champion job in their communities. They report issues they see to us and do litter picks (among other things). We’re also recruiting volunteer Snow Wardens ready for winter. If you would like to volunteer as a Street Champion or Show Warden in your area please let us know. Details of all volunteering opportunities here.
