From roads to running tracks - contractor delivers social value project

A new daily mile running track, has left a primary school headteacher ‘delighted’ after Telford & Wrekin Council worked delivered its latest social value scheme.
Headteacher, Lynda Stolic said: “We are absolutely delighted with our new daily mile track. We are committed to encouraging healthy lifestyles in all children at the school and this track adds another opportunity for our children to benefit physically, socially and emotionally.
“Already we have been running, jogging and walking on the track and the children are loving it. We also thank the team for doing a fantastic job from planning to completion. ”
Balfour Beatty’s contract with the council ensures that maximum value for money is gained as additional benefits for society are created through the partnership at no cost.
Cabinet Member for place, the economy & neighbourhood services, Councillor Lee Carter said: “We are highly conscious of the budgets we look after and work in ways to create and maximise value for money for as many schemes as possible.
“The new track will support pupils to improve their wellbeing and is a great example of a simple, free inclusive exercise to boost the wellbeing of the whole school. Being able to take part has a huge impact on pupil’s social, mental, and physical wellbeing and we’re pleased to have delivered this track, a legacy of the council’s partnership which has created benefits that will be felt for year groups across the school and into the future.”
Senior quantity surveyor at Balfour Beatty Living Places, Amanda Brown said: “We recently completed the installation of the new running track at Randlay Primary School, which will benefit the health and wellbeing of pupils for years to come.
“Through our partnership with Telford and Wrekin Council, we are dedicated to supporting local community projects that have a lasting effect, long after the project is completed. This scheme perfectly aligns to this ambition and Balfour Beatty are delighted to be able to support.”
