The Mayor and Mayoress of the Borough of Telford and Wrekin have launched their charity for 2022/23 Building Bridges in Telford and Wrekin, raising over £2300 in one night.
At a special event last Saturday Councillor Raj and Dr Poonam Mehta The Mayor and Mayoress of the Borough of Telford and Wrekin launched their Charitable fund for their period in office aiming to raise funds for their project called Building Bridges in Telford and Wrekin.
Building Bridges aims to strengthen community ties and broaden diversity across the borough helping to bring the vibrant cultural communities together.
Funds were raised at the event from tickets sales and also a charity auction which included a signed/framed authentic Harry Kane England World Cup Shirt which had an opening bid of £350.
Councillor Raj Mehta The Mayor of the Borough of Telford and Wrekin said “My wife and I were thrilled to host an event to launch our charity on Saturday. The generous donations on the evening raised over £2,302. This money will be used by Building Bridges in Telford and Wrekin to support local communities to continue the work they do to provide a safe and social environment for our next generation. The Charity is designed to help support communities but it’s also vital that communities come together and support and look out for each other as well, especially in these challenging times.”
The Mayor would like to thank Telford & Wrekin Interfaith Council and the following companies and suppliers who helped make the event a huge success on Saturday; Nanny’s Craft Bakery, Kay’s Lounge, SASS Ltd, Mark International, The Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust, Sunnytaggar, Desi Flame, Prem’s Wedding Decoration Services and Steve Elliott Imaging.
