Pride in Our Community improvements - week starting 16 March 2020

Whilst we are working with our partners to prepare and respond to Coronavirus and to share updates from Public Heath England with our residents, our crews are also out working. Here are details of what they are working on this week, plus links to more information and to report any issues you spot.

Pride in Our Community improvements - week starting 16 March 2020

Winter maintenance – our gritters are on standby 24/7 to respond to Met Office warnings of snow and ice. Met office 5 day forecast for Telford here. More winter information + advice here.

Carriageway resurfacing – A442 Randley to Stirchley (Southbound), resurfacing work between Randley Interchange and Strichley Interchange continues. Resurfacing works are also starting at Sutton bank on Tuesday 17 march until Friday. More information here.

Drains (gullies) – our Balfour Beatty crews are out with the gully tanker cleaning drains in Church Aston and Lilleshall. You can report a drainage issue here

Potholes – these are all too common problem in winter, but the recent floods and cold weather are likely to increase the number. Our Balfour Beatty crews are filling potholes reported to us in Apley, Brookside, Coalbrookdale, Dawley, Donnington, Edgmond, Halesfield, Ironbridge, Ketley, Madeley, Newport, Overdale, Redhill, Stafford Park, St Georges, Telford Town Centre, Trench, Wellington and Woodside. The Jetpatcher Spray Injection machine is also out repairing potholes and defects across the rural areas. Please report any potholes you spot here

Car parking schemes – crews are installing a new parallel parking area and footpath link on Kemberton Road.

Highways drainage schemes – crews are installing a new highways drainage system on Hampton Road to help alleviate flooding issues. Work starts today and is expected to take around 8 weeks to complete. Work will see a large soakway tank installed to replace existing small soakways. The new soakway is designed to cope with a 1 in 100 year rainfall event with a 30% additional allowance for climate change. Crews are also upgrading the drainage at Church Farm, Rowton to try and alleviate flooding issues.

Street lighting – crews fix faulty street lights reported to us. Please report any you spot here.

Newport Innovation and Enterprise Package – highways/infrastructure improvements to A518 to create Ni-Park, a world-leading agri-tech hub in Newport. More information here.

Grounds maintenance – crews are tending shrub beds in Brookside, Dawley Bank, Shawbirch, Stirchley and The Rock. Grass cutting also starts this week where the ground isn’t too boggy, with crews starting in cemeteries and parks. Tree teams are out in areas across the borough. Street cleansing – our idverde street cleansing crews are bin emptying, litter picking and collecting fly tips in areas across the borough. Crews are working on footpaths in Brookside, Randlay and Shawbirch. Crews also working in other local areas doing jobs requested by town/parish councils. You can report an issue with littering here.

Street Champions and Snow Wardens – our volunteer Street Champions are out doing their bit to keep neighbourhoods tidy. Snow Wardens are also on standby to help neighbourhoods if we get snow. Details about volunteering opportunities here.

Enforcement – our civil parking enforcement team are out in areas across the borough addressing issues around inconsiderate/illegal parking as well as responding to reports of environmental crimes such as fly tipping. More information about civil parking enforcement here.  Report fly tips here.
