Pride in Our Community improvements - week starting 17 February 2020

Here are details of what else our crews are working on this week, plus links to more information and to report any issues you spot.

Winter maintenance – our gritters are on standby 24/7 to respond to Met Office warnings of snow and ice. Met office 5 day forecast for Telford here. More winter information + advice here.

Drains (gullies) – our Balfour Beatty crews are out with the gully tanker cleaning drains in Ercall Magna. You can report a drainage issue here.

Footpaths – our Balfour Beatty crews are improving footpaths in Park and Dothill – Strine Cl, Rea Dv, Marton Dv, Hordley Rd, Stokesay Rd, Clunbury Rd, Barnet Cl, Cound Cl, Teme Av; Shawbirch – Hopkins Heath, School Ln, Lindfield Dv, Vineyard Pl, New Church Rd; and Donnington – Park Rd, West Av, Winnifred Dv. Road safety schemes – our Balfour Beatty crews are installing a new crossing point, footway link and traffic calming measures in Chetwynd Road, Newport. School safety schemes are also being installed by Shortwood Primary School and Dothill Primary School. Work to install traffic calming measures also in Lawley (Dawley Rd), Dawley (Station Road) and outside the school in Brookside Avenue.

Potholes – as usual our Balfour Beatty crews are filling potholes that have been reported to us. This week they are in Admaston, Apley, Aqueduct, Brookside, Coalbrookdale, Dawley, Donnington, Hadley, Hortonwood, Ironbridge, Longdon On Tern, Muxton, Newport, Oakengates, St Georges, Wellington and Wrockwardine Wood. Street lighting – crews fix faulty street lights reported to us. Please report any you spot here.

Newport Innovation and Enterprise Package – highways/infrastructure improvements to A518 to create Ni-Park, a world-leading agri-tech hub in Newport. More information here

Grounds maintenance – our idverde crews are out dealing with the issues arising from #StormDennis; if you spot a tree blocking a road/path please report it here. Crews are also tending shrub beds in Dawley, Horsehay, Overdale, Shawbirch and Stirchley. You can report a grounds maintenance issue here.

Street cleansing – our idverde street cleansing crews and road sweepers are out helping with the #StormDennis clean up. In addition, they are bin emptying, litter picking and collecting fly tips in areas across the borough. A Find it Fix It crew is doing jobs in Dawley, and teams are also working in other local areas doing jobs requested by town/parish councils. Crews are working on footpaths in Brookside, Leegomery, Randlay and Wellington. You can report an issue with littering here

Street Champions and Snow Wardens – our volunteer Street Champions are out doing their bit to keep neighbourhoods tidy. Snow Wardens are also on standby to help neighbourhoods if we get snow.  The Donnington Community Hub is also holding a half term litter pick on Wednesday, and we have a representative from Veolia joining us to talk to the children about recycling. Enforcement – in their first 2 weeks of having civil parking enforcement powers, our Neighbourhood Enforcement officers have spoken to parents + staff outside schools, chatted to people on a wide range of issues while on patrol across the borough, helped police and the ambulance service when an elderly man fell from a pavement in Ironbridge, visited town and parish councils, asked 17 residents to cut back overgrown vegetation that was getting in the way of footpaths and issued more than 100 Penalty Charge Notices for illegal parking.
