Here are details of what our crews are working on this week, plus links to more information and to report any issues you are aware of.

Pride in Our Community improvements - week starting 20 January 2020

Winter maintenance – our gritters have been out 3 times since last Monday, and are on standby 24/7 to respond to Met Office warnings of snow and ice. Met office 5 day forecast for Telford here. More winter information + advice here.

Drains (gullies) – our Balfour Beatty crews are out with the gully tanker cleaning drains in Woodside. You can report a drainage issue here

Footpaths – our Balfour Beatty crews are improving footpaths in Dothill and Park – Buildwas Rd, Clun Cl, Longnor Rd, Rea Dv, Rushbury Rd, Strine Cl and Stokesay Rd; and Donnington – East Av. You can report a footpath issue here.

Residential car parking schemes - our Balfour Beatty crews are continuing work to increase car parking for residents in Spout Way, Malinslee.

Road safety schemes – crews are installing school safety schemes by Meadows Primary School (Woodside Rd and Riddings Cl) and Old Park Primary School (Brunel Rd).

Road lining – our Balfour Beatty crews are refreshing road markings in Wellington.

Potholes – as usual our Balfour Beatty crews are filling potholes that have been reported to us. This week they are in Arleston, Donnington, Ironbridge, Lawley, Lilleshall, Longdon on Tern, Madeley, Newport, Oakengates, Shawbirch, Walton, Waters Upton and Wrockwardine Wood. Street lighting – crews fix faulty street lights reported to us. Please report any you spot here.

Major third-party works – Severn Trent Water upgrade of the waste network; the closure of Ironbridge Road is currently ongoing with a planned end date of Sunday 26 January. More information here.

Newport Innovation and Enterprise Package – highways/infrastructure improvements to A518 to create Ni-Park, a world-leading agri-tech hub in Newport. More information here

Grounds maintenance – our idverde crews are tending shrub beds in Madeley, Priorslee, Woodside and Wrockwardine Wood. The tree teams are in areas across the borough, including Donnington Wood Way. You can report a grounds maintenance issue here

Street cleansing – our idverde crews are bin emptying and litter picking in areas across the borough. Road sweepers are in the Dawley area. A Find it Fix It crew is doing jobs in Dawley, and PET teams are working in other local areas doing jobs requested by town/parish councils. Crews are also working on footpaths in Brookside, Hollinswood and Priorslee. You can report an issue with littering here.

Street Champions and Snow Wardens – our volunteer Street Champions are out doing their bit to keep neighbourhoods tidy. On Sunday 26 January at 11am, they will be meeting at Edgmond Village Hall before going on a village litter pick – all welcome.  Our volunteer Snow Wardens are on standby to help neighbourhoods if we get snow.  Details about volunteering as a Street Champion, Snow Warden + other opportunities here.

Enforcement – as of 31 January, we will be taking over Civil Parking Enforcement. This week, our newly-appointed Neighbourhood Enforcement Officers will continue to be out and about issuing warning notices to illegally parked cars. From 31 January, they will be able to issue Fixed Penalty Notices, so this is just a reminder to park legally and considerately. More information here.
