Here are details of what our crews are working on this week, plus links to more information and to report any issues you are aware of.

Pride in Our Community improvements - week starting 25 November 2019

Winter maintenance – our Balfour Beatty gritters went out twice last week, and crews are on standby 24/7 to respond to Met Office warnings of snow and ice. Met office 5 day forecast for Telford here. More winter info + advice here.

Road surfacing – Waterloo Street in Ironbridge is now open, however Severn Trent Water is starting phase 2 which will mean Ironbridge Road is closed from the junction of Lloyds Head to Ladywood until late January (businesses open as usual). More information https://bit.ly/2nRqo4K.

Highways structures (e.g. bridges) – crews are continuing with work on the bridge on Bridgnorth Road (just south of Cuckoo Oak Roundabout).  A road closure is in place between Cuckoo Oak Roundabout and Chilcott Drive, with diversions signposted, and the work could take a number of weeks to complete.  There is access for residents and to the local school, but all through traffic is advised to follow the signed diversion which will help minimise delays. More information here.  Work to repair a section of retaining wall at Horsehay Pool started last week; a short pedestrian diversion is in place and work is expected to be done by Christmas.

Drains (gullies) – our Balfour Beatty crews are out with the gully tanker cleaning drains in Brookside, Horsehay and Lightmore. You can report a drainage issue here.

Safety/traffic calming schemes – our Balfour Beatty crews are continuing to install a new pedestrian crossing in Wrekin Drive, Donnington, as well road repairs/patching; the road is closed with a full diversion in place.

Potholes – our Balfour Beatty crews are filling potholes that have been reported to us. This week they are in Brookside, Dawley, Hadley, Ketley Bank, Little Dawley, Madeley, Newdale, Newport, Oakengates, Stirchley, Sutton Hill, The Rock and Wellington. Please report any you spot here.

Footpaths – our Balfour Beatty crews are improving footpaths in St Georges (Park Cl, Lodge Rd, Snowhill, Ivor Thomas Rd), Apley (Heatherdale, Barnes Wallace Dv, Beaufort Cl) and Shawbirch (Oakfield Rd). You can report a footpath issue here.

Street lighting – crews fix faulty street lights reported to us. Please report any you spot here.

Newport Innovation and Enterprise Package – highways/infrastructure improvements to A518 to create Ni-Park, a world-leading agri-tech hub in Newport. More information here.

Grounds maintenance – our idverde crews are tending shrub beds in Malinslee, Muxton and Sutton Hill, and are out with the flail hedge trimmer in Aqueduct, Lawley and Lightmore.  The tree teams are in areas across the borough, including Little Dawley, Dawley Pools and Leegomery.   Crews are also planting bulbs in various locations – last week they were planting crocus bulbs in Dale End Park. You can report a grounds maintenance issue here.

Street cleansing – our idverde crews are bin emptying and litter picking in areas across the borough. Road sweepers are concentrating on leaf clearance in areas across the borough. A Find it Fix It crew is at Holy Trinity Church in Dawley, and PET teams are working in other local areas doing jobs requested by town/parish councils. You can report an issue with littering here.

Street Champions – our volunteer Street Champions are out doing their bit to keep neighbourhoods tidy. Also on Wednesday our environmental volunteer coordinator is out with children from Woodlands Primary School doing a local tidy up; the children recently completed our Junior Street Champion scheme and decided to do their own litter pick. Details about becoming a Street Champion and other volunteering opportunities here.
