#OurDay – a story of a day in our life…

Telford & Wrekin Council will be among the many public services taking part in #OurDay on Tuesday 19 November to give people an insight into the varied range of services they provide.

#OurDay – a story of a day in our life…

The national Tweetathon is an opportunity for local councils and other public services to highlight the valuable work they do to improve the quality of life for residents.

Over the course of the day, councils, health organisations, Police, Fire and other services will be using their social media channels to share stories of what they are doing that day and the people who are doing the work.

In the case of the council, this will start with bin collection crews heading out on their rounds at 7am.  Throughout the day, other services will check in to share updates on their day.

Adults and children’s social care, Dial-a-Ride, highways, grounds maintenance, street cleaning, libraries, food hygiene, leisure, licensing, estates and community volunteering officers will all be taking part.

Angie Astley, assistant director for neighbourhood services at Telford & Wrekin Council, said: “There’s probably a lot of services we do that people don’t know about. Everyone knows about the bins, but there are lots of things that perhaps people may not know about.

“OurDay is about sharing the work we do and also showing our appreciation for our staff. People who are following us on the day @TelfordWrekin will also get the chance to ask us questions.”

Follow the council @TelfordWrekin on #OurDay from 7am to 7pm on Tuesday 19 November 2019.
