Here are details of what our crews are working on this week, plus links to more information and to report any issues you are aware of.

Pride in Our Community improvements - week starting 4 November 2019

Winter maintenance – our Balfour Beatty gritters went out 1 time last week, and crews are on standby 24/7 to respond to Met Office warnings of snow and ice. Met office 5 day forecast for Telford here. More winter information + advice here.

Road surfacing – our Balfour Beatty crews are starting the improvements to Hadley Park Roundabout this week under a full road closure – though work will be done overnight to minimise disruption (7pm to 6am with access to businesses only). Further information, including traffic management arrangements here. Also a reminder that Waterloo Street in Ironbridge is closed until Friday 22 November due to work being done by Severn Trent Water. More information here.

Bridge maintenance – now that the resurfacing of Cuckoo Oak Roundabout is complete, Balfour Beatty crews are starting work on the bridge on Bridgnorth Road (just south of Cuckoo Oak Roundabout).  A road closure is in place between Cuckoo Oak Roundabout and Chilcott Drive, with diversions signposted, and the work could take up to 6 weeks to complete (though hopefully much less).  There is access for residents and to the local school, but all through traffic is advised to follow the signed diversion which will help minimise delays. More information here.

Drains (gullies) – our Balfour Beatty crews are out with the gully tanker cleaning drains in Dawley Bank and Malinslee. You can report a drainage issue here.

Residential car parking schemes – our Balfour Beatty crews are increasing car parking for residents in Sunniside Avenue, Coalbrookdale.

Safety schemes – our Balfour Beatty crews are clearing vegetation along the Wharfage in Ironbridge.

Potholes – our Balfour Beatty crews are filling potholes that have been reported to us. This week they are in Admaston, Apley, Bratton, Brookside, Chetwynd, Dawley Bank, Donnington, Dothill, Hadley, High Ercall, Hortonwood, Muxton, Newport, Oakengates, Shawbirch, Stirchley, Sutton Hill, Trench, Wellington, Wombridge and Woodside. Please report any you spot here.

Footpaths – our Balfour Beatty crews are improving footpaths in Apley (Heatherdale, Manchester Dv), and St Georges (Ladbrook Dv, Manor Dv, Canongate, Stafford St). You can report a footpath issue here.

Street lighting – crews fix faulty street lights reported to us. Please report any you spot here.

Grounds maintenance – our idverde crews are hedge cutting in Ironbridge, Leegomery and Malinslee; and the flail hedge trimmer will be out in Ketley and Oakengates.  The tree team is working in Dawley Green Way, removing a number nursery stock poplars so that the natives get the space and light they need to flourish. More information here. You can report a grounds maintenance issue here.

Street cleansing – our idverde crews are bin emptying and litter picking in areas across the borough and cleaning paths in Donnington, Leegomery, Malinslee and Sutton Hill. Crews are also out leaf sweeping and tidying up the borough’s war memorials in preparation for Remembrance Day. You can report an issue with littering here.

Street Champions– our volunteer Street Champions are out and about doing their bit to keep neighbourhoods tidy. Details about becoming a Street Champion and other volunteering opportunities here.

Enforcement – our enforcement has asked us to remind people that chewing gum is litter and anyone caught littering risks being fined £80 (£150 if thrown from a car). According to Keep Britain Tidy, chewing gum is a real problem, with 95% of our country’s streets stained with it. Please help us to keep our borough tidy and #stickitinthebin More info information here.
