Pride in Our Community improvements - week starting 28 October 2019
Here are details of what our crews are working on this week, plus links to more information and to report any issues you are aware of.
Winter maintenance – a frosty one this morning. Our gritting crews are on standby 24/7 to respond to Met Office warnings of snow and ice. Met office 5 day forecast for Telford here. More winter info + advice here.
Road surfacing – Old Park Roundabout improvement scheme starts today and will last 3 days (weather permitting). Crews will be on site between 9.30am-4.30pm and working on different legs of the roundabout each day with traffic management arrangements in place. Work on Cuckoo Oak Roundabout continues until the end of the week, with crews working overnight (7pm-6am) to minimise disruption. Also a reminder that Waterloo Street in Ironbridge is closed until Friday 22 November due to work being done by Severn Trent Water. More information here.
Drains (gullies) – crews are out with the gully tanker cleaning drains in Aqueduct, Dawley, Dawley Bank and Malinslee. You can report a drainage issue here.
Safety schemes – crews are clearing vegetation along the Wharfage in Ironbridge.
Potholes - crews are filling potholes that have been reported to us. This week they are in Admaston, Bratton, Brookside, Dawley, Donnington, Halesfield, Hollinswood, Madeley, Newport, Priorslee, Randlay and Wellington. Please report any you spot here.
Footpaths – crews are improving footpaths in Apley (Heatherdale, Beaufort Cl, Gloucester Crt), St Georges (Gower St, Fountain Dv, Athol Dv, Eaton Cres), and Newport (Lapworth Way, Vineyard Dv, Stafford Rd). You can report a footpath issue here.
Street lighting – crews fix faulty street lights reported to us. Please report any you spot here.
Grounds maintenance – crews are hedge cutting in Ironbridge, Malinslee and Shawbirch; and the flail hedge trimmer will be out in St Georges. Winter bedding is being planted in various areas including Hartshill Park. The tree team are in Aqueduct, Leegomery and Wellington. You can report a grounds maintenance issue here.
Street cleansing - crews are bin emptying and litter picking in areas across the borough and cleaning paths in Sutton Hill. Crews are also out leaf sweeping and tidying up the borough’s war memorials in preparation for Remembrance Day. You can report an issue with littering here.
Street Champions – our volunteer Street Champions are out and about doing their bit to keep neighbourhoods tidy. Details about becoming a Street Champion and other volunteering opportunities here.
Enforcement – our enforcement team issues fines to anyone caught littering. Chewing gum is a particularly sticky issue, according to Keep Britain Tidy 95% of our country’s streets are stained with gum. Anyone caught littering their chewing gum risks being fined £80 (£150 if thrown from a car), so please help us to keep our borough tidy and #stickitinthebin. More info information here.
