Enter our Autumn Trees Photo Competition

Autumn is here, and to celebrate the season of ‘mists and mellow fruitfulness’, Telford & Wrekin Council is running a photo competition.

Enter our Autumn Trees Photo Competition

The council is looking for photographs that show the spectacular beauty of the borough’s trees during this most magical season.

With its abundance of ancient semi-natural woodlands, plantation woodlands and estate trees, Telford and Wrekin is an amazing place to capture the dazzling display of colour that the season has to offer.

Councillor Hilda Rhodes, Telford & Wrekin Council cabinet member for green spaces and the natural environment, said: “The trees in our borough help set us apart from other areas, and they really come into their own in autumn.  The colours of the leaves as they get ready to fall are stunning.

“This is the best time to go for a stroll in one of our woodlands or parks and I am very much looking forward to see how people capture the magic of the season.”

All people need to do is get out in the borough and take photos of trees that show the changing colours of the leaves that blaze with shades of yellow, orange and red.

Photos should then be shared in the Pride in Our Community Facebook Group, remembering to add the hashtag #autumntreescompetition and where the photo was taken e.g. #Ironbridge, #TelfordTownPark.

The deadline for entries is 22 November and the winner will be announced on Monday 2 December.

The winner will be awarded a tree to plant in a choice of locations for the public to enjoy – the choice of tree will be based on a ‘right tree in the right place’ approach and will include fruiting trees.

Competition terms & conditions:

• Photos must be taken in the borough of Telford and Wrekin.
• Competition is open to all ages.
• Competition closing date is midnight on 22 November – just ahead of National Plant a Tree Week (23 November to 1 December). After this time no further entries will be counted.
• The winning photo will be selected by a panel of four judges who will also take account of the reactions from the public to photos shared on social media.
• By entering the competition, entrants understand that the photos will be used on the council’s social/digital channels and may be shared with others e.g. local media organisations.
• Only enter photos that you have taken yourself and you are happy to share the copyright with us.

Good luck!
