Here’s what our crews are working on this week, plus links to more information, useful reminders and to report any issues you are aware of.

Pride in Our Community improvements - week beginning 22 July 2019

Roadworks and traffic management schemes - get live updates on schemes in Telford and Wrekin here.

Maintenance/cleansing on dual carriageways – continues until 31 July, with our highways and grounds/street cleansing crews working on the A442, A464, A4169, A5, A518, A5223, B4373 and B5072. Work includes gully cleaning, grass cutting, hedge cutting, tree works, litter picking, road sweeping, street light replacements, + repairs to the carriageway and roadside barriers. There will be a number of temporary, overnight road closures to allow crews to safely do the work and minimise disruption to motorists. More information here.

Drains – crews are out with the gully tanker cleaning drains in Brookside and Stirchley again this week. You can report a drainage issue here.

Road marking – crews are refreshing road markings in Admaston and Bratton.

Road surfacing – crews are continuing in Halesfield 10 this week. Weather permitting, the work is due to be finished by the end of July.

Potholes - crews are filling potholes that have been reported to us. This week they are in Aqueduct, Brookside and Dawley. Please report any you spot here.

Footpaths – crews are improving footpaths in Aqueduct, Dawley, Dawley Bank, Malinslee, Newport and Wrockwardine. You can report a footpath issue here.

Street lighting – the main programme to upgrade street lights to more energy efficient LEDs is complete. Crews are, however, revisiting various locations to upgrade any less straightforward lights e.g. where access had been an issue on their initial visit. If you have a question about street lighting, please email streetlighting@telford.gov.uk.

Grounds maintenance – crews are out as usual this week, grass cutting in areas across the borough and summer pruning in Priorslee and Ketley Bank. You can report a grounds maintenance issue here.

Street cleansing - crews are out litter picking in Woodside and Stirchley, bin emptying across the borough and road sweeping in Halesfield, Madeley and Sutton Hill. You can report an issue with littering here.

Environmental enforcement – a landscape gardener was caught fly tipping a load of soil in public woodlands last week. A report came in from a member of the public as the dumping was happening and two environmental enforcement officers went straight out and caught the perpetrator red-handed. Although initially defensive, the perpetrator admitted the offence and has been issued with a hefty fine for £400. Professional contractors need to dispose of their waste responsibly and will need a waste carriers licence if they are carrying it themselves.  If you are hiring a gardener (or any other contractor), please check what they plan to do with the waste is legal. Also, please help us to keep Telford and Wrekin tidy, and if you spot anyone fly tipping please report it to us here.

Street Champions – our volunteer Street Champions are out and about doing their bit to keep neighbourhoods tidy. On Friday 19 July, three of our Street Champions met Princess Alexandra when she came to Telford to meet the Telford Community Pride Award winners - gallery of photos taken during the visit here. This morning, a group of 16 young volunteers have been litter picking in Telford Town Park and staff from Reconomy will be in Stafford Park litter picking on Wednesday. Details about becoming a Street Champion and other volunteering opportunities here.

Recycling and waste collection reminder – free food waste recycling service starts in September. More information, including FAQs, here.
