Pride In Our Community improvements - week beginning 1 April 2019

This week we welcome to the borough our new contractors Balfour Beatty and idverde. Balfour Beatty will be looking after our highways assets and idverde our grounds and street cleansing services. Here’s what crews are working on this week, as well as links to more information and to report any issues you are aware of.

Pride In Our Community improvements - week beginning 1 April 2019

Roads and footpaths – crews will be refreshing and improving road marking in Malinslee, Dawley Bank, Dawley and Aqueduct. Get live updates on street works and traffic management schemes in Telford and Wrekin here.

Drains – a gully tanker will be arriving in the borough this week to make a start on a year-long programme to clean and empty the borough’s 33,000 drains.

Gritting – our gritters will be out if needed (we could still get a frost). Here’s the Met Office 5 day forecast for Telford and Wrekin.

Potholes - crews are filling potholes that have been reported to us. Please report any you spot here or via the Everyday Telford app.

Street lighting – the main programme to upgrade street lights to more energy efficient LEDs is complete.  Crews are, however, revisiting various locations to upgrade any less straightforward lights e.g. where access had been an issue on their initial visit. If you have a question about street lighting, please email streetlighting@telford.gov.uk.

Grounds maintenance and litter picking – crews are out as usual this week. You can report a grounds maintenance issue here. Anyone wanting to report an issue with littering in their area can do so here.

Environmental enforcement – one local resident who was spotted littering by one of our enforcement officers has been issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice.  Cheaper and simpler to just bin it! There are around 2,500 litter bins in the borough for people to dispose of their litter and dog waste. If you see anyone littering (including from a vehicle), please report it here.

Street Champions – our street champions are joining various clean ups being organised as part of the annual Keep Britain Tidy Great British Spring Clean. This week’s include: Sutton Hill on Wednesday 3 April, meet at the Hub on the Hill at 1.30pm; Horsehay Pool on Saturday 6 April, meet by the social area opposite the Cod Father at 10am; and Dawley Hamlets Nature Reserve on Sunday 7 April, meet at Dawley Pools car park at 11am.  Anyone wanting to help at these clean ups is welcome. More information about becoming a Street Champion or other volunteering opportunities here.
