Pride In Our Community improvements - week beginning 18 March 2019

Roads and footpaths –Work on footpaths continues in Dawley Road, Arleston. Investigatory works continues on the A442 Queensway in advance of a future project - this work will be carried out under lane closures between Randlay Interchange and Stirchley Interchange. Get live updates on street works and traffic management schemes in Telford here.

Drainage – Drainage investigations to be carried out in Walcot. Flood barriers have been deployed to Ironbridge where the River Severn is expected to peak on Tuesday. A road diversion is in place. The Environment Agency is monitoring river levels. Flood barriers will be taken down when appropriate.

Residential parking – crews are continuing work to improve parking provision on Withywood in Woodside, Queen Elizabeth Way in Malinslee and Farm Lane Bungalows in Donnington. Works are commencing today in Churncote in Stirchley.

Structures – works continue to infill an underpass on Randlay Avenue.

Safety schemes – Crews are finishing off work in Priorslee Avenue installing a speed indicator device

Gritting – our gritters will be out as and when needed (we could still get a frost). Here’s the Met Office 5 day forecast for Telford.

Potholes - crews are filling potholes that have been reported to us. The Jetpatcher is also out in more rural areas for the next week filling potholes and other defects. Please report any you spot here or via the Everyday Telford app.

Street lighting – crews are upgrading street lights in Wellington and also revisiting a number of other locations to finish off upgrading lights where access had been an issue on their initial visit. If you have a question about street lighting, please email streetlighting@telford.gov.uk.

Grounds maintenance and litter picking – spring flowers are blooming and crews have started grass cutting, which is a little earlier than usual due to the mild winter. They will try to avoid areas which are still too wet to be mown though. Also a date for your diary – if you would like to meet our new grounds and street cleansing contractor idverde UK and find out how they will do things differently when they start work in the borough in April, then come along to see them outside the library at Southwater One on Wednesday 20 March, 10am-4pm. As always, you can report a grounds maintenance issue here. Anyone wanting to report an issue with littering in their area can do so here.

Environmental enforcement – Our officers investigate all reports of fly-tips. In a recent case following a report from a member of the public, officers sifted through the dumped evidence and identified the culprit who was issued with a £400 fixed penalty notice. The person responsible also cleaned up the area! If you see a fly-tip, please report it to us here.

Street Champions – our street champions are joining in various clean ups being organised as part of the annual Keep Britain Tidy Great British Spring Clean. More on what’s happening locally for the Great British Spring Clean here.  Details of all volunteering opportunities here
