Pride In Our Community improvements - week beginning 4 March 2019
Here’s an update on what our crews are working on this week - improvements to roads, footpaths, street lighting and much more...
Roads and footpaths – carriageway patching is being carried out in Meese Close, Wellington, Shifnal Road, Priorslee & Shutfield Road, Aqueduct. Maintenance works continue on Grainger Drive and A518 Garrison Roundabout, Donnington and commence on Leegate Avenue, Leegomery. Work on footpaths continues in Oakengates (Leonard Street, Kensington Way, Cavendish Close and Old Croft) and Dawley Road, Arleston. Get live updates on street works and traffic management schemes in Telford here.
Safety schemes – crews continue to work on Grainger Drive, Leegomery to improve the crossing facilities outside Millbrook Primary School as well the installation of a school safety zone. Work also continues on Priorslee Avenue to implement a school safety zone and flashing speed indicator signs along the route.
Signing schemes – work continues on a scheme to replace the directional signing at St Quentin Roundabout.
Residential parking – work to improve parking provision in Churchway, Stirchley is still underway and due to be completed this week. Work also starts on Waverly in Woodside.
Winter maintenance – our gritters will be out as and when needed. Here’s the Met Office 5 day forecast for Telford.
Potholes - crews are filling potholes that have been reported to us. Please report any you spot here or via the Everyday Telford app.
Street lighting – crews are upgrading street lights in Wellington and Newport. They will also be revisiting a number of other locations upgrading lights where access had been an issue on their initial visit. As the teams upgrade the street lights in each area, they inspect each column and light first. In some cases, the column needs replacing and so it will be at this point that the new LEDs are installed. Some are in need of further inspection, and so these too are being done later. The LED programme will be completed by April. If you have a question about street lighting, please email streetlighting@telford.gov.uk.
Drainage works – work to improve the drainage in School Road, Donnington are likely to be completed this week. Drainage investigation works will also be on-going all week on Leegomery roundabout.
Grounds maintenance and litter picking – spring flowers are popping up everywhere which is lovely to see. As always, you can report a grounds maintenance issue here. Anyone wanting to report an issue with littering in their area can do so here.
Environmental enforcement – our community safety team is holding a drop is session at Brookside Big Local on the first Wednesday of every month from 12 noon to 2pm – the first one is this Wednesday. You will get the chance to talk about your community safety and environmental concerns (e.g. fly tipping) and also hear about how you can work with us by reporting issues.
Street Champions – our Street Champions report issues they see to us and do litter picks (among other things). Details about volunteering as a Street Champion and other volunteering opportunities here.
