Here’s an update on what our crews are working on this week - improvements to roads, footpaths, street lighting and much more...

Pride In Our Community improvements - week beginning 21 January 2019

Roads and footpaths – Carriageway patching continues on Hadley High Street, and also starts on B5063 Cotwall to Walton. Get live updates on street works and traffic management schemes in Telford here.

Residential parking – works continue in Old Wharf, Malinslee and Woodrows, Woodside to make improvements to residential parking provision.

Footbridges and other structures – work on the Priorslee boardwalk continues. As does work to fill in underpasses in Randlay Avenue (near Catherton). Work to clear vegetation off a number of highways structures across the borough also continues.

Drainage – Works in Edgmond Road, Newport near the junction with Stone Bridge are due to complete by the end of the week.

Winter maintenance – our gritters will be out as and when needed. Here’s the Met Office 5 day forecast for Telford.

Potholes - crews are filling potholes that have been reported to us. Please report any potholes you spot here or via the Everyday Telford app.

Street lighting – crews are working on upgrading street lights in Wrockwardine, Wellington,  Dawley, Hollinswood, Randlay and the road from Jiggers to Castlefields. As the teams upgrade the street lights in each area, they inspect each column and light first. In some cases, the column needs replacing and so it will be at this point that the new LEDs are installed. Some are in need of further inspection, and so these too are being done later. The full LED programme will be completed by April. If you have a question about street lighting, please email streetlighting@telford.gov.uk.

Improvements in Hollies Road and surrounding area in Wellington – crews are finishing off some signing and speed cushion works this week and should be completed by Friday. More information, including FAQs and contact details here.

Grounds maintenance and litter picking – crews are out and about doing seasonal jobs. You can report a grounds maintenance issue here. Anyone wanting to report an issue with littering in their area can do so here.

Environmental enforcement – an investigation has been carried out into fly tipped waste that was spread over three rural areas of Telford.  The owners of the waste were tracked down and, during interview, it became apparent that a skip company had been used that wasn’t from this area.  Householders are being reminded to only use legitimate companies with a valid waste carrier licence – this can be checked on the Environment Agency’s website here.  Householders need also to be sure to get a receipt for the waste that’s been taken, and beware that if the price is too good to be true, then it may be that they are dumping the waste, instead of disposing of it legally.

Street Champions and Snow Wardens – Our Street Champions report issues they see to us and do litter picks (among other things) and Snow Wardens help out in their local communities when the white stuff arrives. Details about volunteering as a Street Champion or Snow Warden and other volunteering opportunities here.
