Pride In Our Community improvements - week beginning 19 November 2018
Here’s an update on what our crews are working on this week - improvements to roads, footpaths, street lighting and much more...
Roads – work continues in Brunel Road, Mount Road and Church Road, Malinslee; and Spring Hill, Hollies Road and Orleton Lane in Wellington. Work also starts in Waterloo Road, Ketley and Southgate, Sutton Hill. Get live updates on street works and traffic management schemes in Telford here.
Footpaths – improvements continue in Oakengates, Madeley and Hadley.
Residential parking – crews are continuing work in Farm Lodge Grove and Coachwell Close, Malinslee. Work starts on Concorde, Dawley Bank to create a new parking area as well as resurfacing some sections of footways and installing a new footpath to link to the new parking area, plus a refuse collection area for residents in the area.
Drainage – work starts in Malvern Crescent.
Footbridges – the footbridge near Mere Grove in Shawbirch will be replaced.
Winter maintenance – it looks like the weather is going to be a bit mixed this week with a potential for some frost. Here’s the Met Office 5 day forecast for Telford.
Potholes - crews are filling potholes that have been reported to us. Please report any potholes you spot here or via the Everyday Telford app.
Street lighting – crews are working on upgrading street lights in Wellington, Hollinswood, Randlay and Newport. As the teams upgrade the street lights in each area, they inspect each column and light first. In some cases, the column needs replacing and so it will be at this point that the new LEDs are installed. Some are in need of further inspection, and so these too are being done later. The full LED programme will be completed by April 2019. If you have a question about street lighting, please email streetlighting@telford.gov.uk.
Church Aston culvert – the collapsed area of The Dale is being stabilised this week and should be reopened at the end of this week.
Improvements in Hollies Road and surrounding area in Wellington continue until mid-December. Temporary road closures are in place, but are being phased in order to keep disruption to local residents & businesses to a minimum. More information, including FAQs and contact details here.
Grounds maintenance and litter picking – crews are out clearing leaves and also planting spring flowering bulbs. You can report a grounds maintenance issue here. Anyone wanting to report an issue with littering in their area can do so here.
Street Champions – our volunteers are doing a champion job in their communities. They report issues they see to us and do litter picks (among other things). We’re also rallying our Snow Warden volunteers ready for winter. If you would like to volunteer as a Street Champion or Show Warden in your area please let us know. Details of all volunteering opportunities here.
