Below is the latest information on a range of services following the heavy snowfall and very cold temperatures of the last few days.

***Weather update - 4.30pm 12 December***

Rubbish & recycling collections
Collections are being disrupted by the bad weather and icy conditions. Residents are advised to put containers due to be collected out on their usual collection day (if it is safe to do so).
If crews don’t manage to collect on your scheduled day, please leave your red top bin, purple top bin and your blue bag out in a safe place and they will be collected as soon as possible. If your green bin isn’t collected, please take it back in and put it out on your next scheduled collection date.

Gritting our roads
The latest forecasts indicate that we can expect slightly less cold weather although temperatures are due to remain close to freezing overnight and with some rain/sleet expected, the risk of ice forming remains, particularly early tomorrow morning so please continue to take care on all routes.
After that there’s some rain forecast during Wednesday, before a return to drier but colder night-time frosts later in the week.
Our gritting teams will be out treating the network twice overnight, while we have teams out around the borough refilling grit bins and responding to priority areas.
More information about grit bins and where we grit is available through our Winter Services pages.

School Closures
Many schools are now indicating that they will be open as normal on Weds 13 Dec. Any school closures should be listed on our School Closures page.

Due to road conditions, for children using Elcocks service to Charlton route E3C1005 there will be a reduced service on Wednesday with pick ups only in Waters Upton (8.15am) and Crudgington Crossroads (8.20am)

Council buildings
Council buildings will revert to normal opening hours tomorrow. It is expected that normal staff work patterns will resume.

If there any changes to services because of the weather, these will be posted on the Council’s Twitter pages and here.
