Here is the latest on road closures, school closures, bus routes, rubbish and recycling collections and which council services are affected.

**** Tuesday 12 Dec 8.55am weather update ****

Rubbish and recycling collections
Collections are being disrupted by the bad weather and icy conditions. Residents are advised to put containers due to be collected out on their usual collection day (if it is safe to do so).
If crews don’t manage to collect on your scheduled day, please leave your red top bin, purple top bin and your blue bag out in a safe place and they will be collected as soon as possible. If your green bin isn’t collected, please take it back in and put it out on your next scheduled collection date.

Roads
The gritters were out at 6pm last night and again at 3am.  We have received reports this morning that traffic is moving, albeit slowly.

School closures
The majority of schools are closed again today. Check your school’s status by visiting www.telford.gov.uk/schoolclosures

Community Transport
On safety grounds, we have suspended all community bus services including Dial A Ride and Wrekin Rider services.

Day Care Centres
All day care centres will be closed today.
Office Opening and Closing Times
All main council buildings will be open to customers from 9.30am-4pm. This includes leisure centres and libraries.

Taxis and private hire

The Council is currently receiving complaints about private hire companies charging extra because of the poor weather conditions.   The Council sets the fares for taxis (also known as Hackney Carriages), so if you are charged extra for a journey in a Hackney Carriage, please let us know.  The Council does not control the fares set by Private Hire operators.  If you are charged extra by a private hire company because of the bad weather, unfortunately the Council is not able to look into this for you.  Please complain directly to the company.  Always ask for the price at the time of booking your journey.

Panto
We are pleased to announce that yesterday's shows of Peter Pan have raised £1275 for the Mayor's Charity - The Severn Hospice.
Thank you so much to everyone who came and braved the cold weather to enjoy the show and donate.
The majority of schools will be closed again today (Tue) so won't be able to attend the pantomime.

If your child was due to come along with their school but has missed their chance due to the snow we would like to give parents the opportunity to bring their children today to either the 10am or 1:30pm show at a special school's discounted rate. We all know snow days can be tiring especially for parents so if you are looking for something to keep them occupied  this could be the solution.
