Overnight closure on Rampart Way for final stage of dual carriageway conversion
Telford & Wrekin Council’s government-funded project, to turn Rampart Way and Hall Park Way into a dual carriageway is entering the final stages
To complete, overnight closures on Rampart Way between 8pm-6am will be needed from tonight until next Wednesday (25 October). This will allow for the new road surface and lining to be laid with a diversion in place along Hollinsgate, Lawn Central and Forgegate.
Once finished, this will see Hall Park Way fully open to traffic while Rampart Way will retain short sections of barriers and cones close to the existing footbridge. This is in preparation for the new footbridge project which is due to start at the end of October.
Angela McClements Cabinet Member for Transport, Infrastructure & Broadband said: “I’m really looking forward to the new carriageway being completed along with the new footpath and traffic light controlled pedestrian crossing.
“We thank drivers for their patience during the work and while the main work will be complete, small elements of traffic management will have to remain in place during the footbridge project to protect the public and contractors working close to the road. (Which we believe will have a minimal impact on traffic)
“This is a vital part of the town’s infrastructure and by developing the town centre network, we are supporting future growth and demand on our roads.
“This is a significant investment that will modernise links for both vehicles and pedestrians.”
By the end of October, remaining works including surfacing the foot ways and landscaping will also be complete in time for the new Telford footbridge project to begin in early November.
