Showering facilities opened for those without water
With homes in South Telford still without water due to Sunday's burst water main supply, anyone without water can use two Council leisure sites to shower.
The following sites will be open for anyone without water to use. Just ask at reception to use the showering facilities for free.
• Horsehay Golf and Fitness Centre – until 5pm today
• Phoenix Sports and Leisure Centre, Dawley 5pm – 10pm
Cllr Rae Evans, cabinet member with responsibility for civil resilience, said: “I know many people have managed to visit family or friends to get around the issue, but if you’ve not been able to, you’ll be very welcome to come and use the facilities at these sites.
“We continue to work closely with Severn Trent to help the communities without water and our thanks to everyone for pulling together and helping each other - it is great to see.
“If you know of anyone, particularly our more vulnerable residents who are unable to get to these locations, please ask them if they need a lift.”
Volunteer water collection points are now also running at the PArk Lane Centre in Woodside and at Brookside Central.
If any residents have issues with collecting water from the bottled water collection points at Tesco in Madeley and at the Museum of the Gorge in Ironbridge, they can contact Severn Trent Water on 0800 783 4444.
