Skate to your own beat at ice rink’s first-ever silent disco

Telford Ice Rink is hosting its first ever silent disco on Friday, August 25 and is offering skaters the chance to take part in a craze that’s sweeping the festival scene.

An early bird offer of £5 per person only available on Monday, August 21, allows skaters to be their own DJ and choose which tunes to listen to through wireless headphones.

With three stations broadcasting, there is something for the whole family regardless of taste.

Radio Shropshire presenter Paul Shuttleworth known as ‘Shuttsie’ will be in charge of retro, 80s and noughties tunes, resident DJ Jordan Jones will spin electro, house, R ‘n’ B and dance classics with pop and mainstream chart music on the third channel.

Councillor John Minor Cabinet member for leisure, green spaces and parks said: “This is an unusual concept for Telford Ice Rink which gives visitors the unique experience of skating to the music of their choice. I’m looking forward to seeing it in action and I’m sure Telford residents will come out in force to support it.”

Three silent disco skate sessions will be held on Friday between
1-3pm; 5.15-7.15pm and 7.30-9.30pm.

The special rate offers a saving of £16 for a family of four and will only be available to book between 10am to 4pm on Monday, August 21.

Tickets at the reduced rate can only be purchased on Monday, August 21 by calling 0845 155 9966, visiting the website at https://secureleisure.telford.gov.uk/lfbook.asp?wci=CentreActivity or by dropping into the ice rink at Saint Quentin Gate, Telford, TF3 4JQ.

After this time, tickets return to the normal (non TLC holders) prices of £9.70 p.adult and £8.65p.child.

Headsets will be prioritised to online pre-booked customers and limited to 300 per session. After this headsets will be available on a first come, first served basis.
