The “Making It Real Board” makes it easier for residents to access information, advice and support from adult social care

Telford and Wrekin residents who need information, advice and support on adult social care services to help them live well and independently can now access the “Knowing where to go” flyer – by visiting the council’s website or by calling 01952 381250 (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm) for a paper copy.

The “Making It Real Board” makes it easier for residents to access information, advice and support from adult social care

The council’s “Adult Social Care – Knowing Where to Go” flyer has been co-produced with “Making It Real Board”, a group of people with lived experience of social care services that regularly meet with council leaders to help improve and develop services in the borough.

The flyer enables residents to find, at one glance, information on adult social care resources and signpost to local services that can help them plan for future care and support needs, remain independent, make a referral for occupational therapy assessment, access carers’ support and many others.

Councillor Paul Watling, Telford & Wrekin Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Health Systems (Labour) said: “We’ve heard that some people in our borough don’t know where to initially go for advice and support in adult social care or what local support services, free-of-charge are available to them.

“By working together with the “Making It Real Board”, we are making it easier for residents to find out about the various adult social care services and resources across Telford and Wrekin so they can get sooner the assistance they require.

“Whether you need guidance for independent living, care planning, making referrals to our adult social care services, or if you are a carer looking for support -  I encourage you to download the “Adult Social Care - Knowing Where to Go” flyer and to keep it readily available in your home.”

Talking about the “Adult Social Care - Knowing Where to Go” flyer and why people should get a copy of it, Sarah Roberts, Co-Chair of the “Making It Real Board” said: “Whether you are new or already known to Adult Social Care this document has key information and contact details to support you to contact the right service.”

Alli Edwards, member of the “Making It Real Board” added: “This document is a ‘must’ for everyone in Telford and Wrekin who needs information about Adult Care Services.”

Since 2018, the “Making It Real Board” has been working hard to ensure that the voices of people who access adult social care in Telford and Wrekin are heard and actively involved in shaping services that directly affect them.

As a member of the “Making It Real Board”, people have the opportunity to come together with council leaders and to share their insights and experiences on adult social care services.
