‘Garden of Hope’ to bring cheer to hospital visitors and staff

Local resident and community fund raiser Julie Ward is hoping to bring her dream of creating a peaceful garden at Princess Royal Hospital to life.

‘Garden of Hope’ to bring cheer to hospital visitors and staff

Julie’s hope is that the garden will offer a beautiful, calming space where visitors and hospital staff can sit, reflect and look to the future with hope.

The dream of creating the garden isn’t Julie’s first community-spirited mission though. Remember the giant ducks that created a ‘Let’s Go Quackers’ art trail in 2018 (Natural-BEE-uty duck pictured)?

Julie’s ducks brought smiles to people’s faces and raised upwards of £36,000 for the Severn Hospice and Jayne Sargent Foundation. They also earned her the ‘Unsung Hero’ award at the borough’s 2019 Community Pride Awards.

The Garden of Hope is Julie’s next mission and she has started to raise funds to cover the costs of the project, estimated at £25,000.

Julie has a lot of work to do and is keen to hear people’s fundraising ideas. She is also keen to hear from local companies that could offer goods or services to help.
