Being able to have your say by voting has never been so important.
Residents living in Telford and Wrekin will be receiving their new-style electoral registration canvass letter towards the end of September, asking them to make sure the information that appears on the electoral register for their address is correct.
Telford & Wrekin Council is asking residents in the borough to look out for their letter in the post. This year residents only need to respond if there are any changes to members of their household. In all other cases, no response is required.
With more and more people responding online and by text, the simple process is designed to keep the electoral register up to date and make sure everyone who wants to vote is able to vote.
David Sidaway, Electoral Registration Officer at Telford & Wrekin Council said: “Having your say has never been so important. To make sure you can vote in elections simply check the details in the letter when it arrives. It only takes 2 minutes.”
It’s easy to reply on-line
The letter informs residents whether they need to respond and this is only where confirmation of the information we hold are required, or there have been changes to your household.
In all cases, you can respond online at www.householdresponse.com/telfordwrekin and use the security codes provided in the letter.
As this is the first year of a new-style electoral canvass across the whole country, the letters do look slightly different to previous years. They cannot be completed by hand so there is no option to return a completed form by post.
However, residents who are unable to respond online or use the text service are being asked to contact the council where our Contact Centre staff will be pleased to assist. The dedicated telephone number is 01952 383206.
