Emergency accommodation for rough sleepers

The borough’s Rough Sleepers Task Force, which comprises Telford & Wrekin Council, Maninplace and STAY Telford, have emergency accommodation in place to help those who are rough sleeping to get off the streets by the end of the weekend and self isolate in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

Emergency accommodation for rough sleepers

In the last day alone another eight rough sleepers in the borough have been provided with accommodation.

Rent guarantees have also been agreed with landlords who are accommodating rough sleepers across the borough.

If you are aware of anyone rough sleeping, please call us on 01952 248 248 (24 hours a day) to enable us to provide direct support.

Cllr David Wright Cabinet Member for Housing, Transport & Infrastructure said: "It is vital we support everyone to stop the spread of this virus including anyone who is vulnerable, such as people who, without accommodation, may be at greater risk.

“In the last day we have reduced the number of rough sleepers on the borough’s streets and accommodated 8 people so far and we will continue to help other rough sleepers who become known to us.

“We have always provided an excellent service for those rough sleeping with the help of our partners, even before the crisis but now with extra Government funding we hope to continue these efforts past this crisis.  No one needs to live on the streets, there is a bed for everyone.”
