Council tribute to London Bridge victims
Councillor Stephen Reynolds paid tribute to the victims of the London Bridge terror attack outside the council's Addenbrooke House headquarters today (Tue 3 Dec).
The event was attended by a significant number of staff from Telford & Wrekin Council's main buildings and Councillor Reynolds told the crowd:
“I would like to thank you all for attending this short event to pay tribute to the victims of the London Bridge terror attack, which took place on Friday.
“I am sure all of you who are gathered here today felt a sense of shock when you learned of the news of the attack.
“Sadly the world as we know it today is not new to such violent attacks but it is something we should never become immune to. Again innocent people have lost their lives, others have sustained serious injuries and families will have experienced life-changing trauma as a result.
“As well as the heartbreaking effect on the victims and the injured, we also need to give a mark of thanks to some very brave souls who tried to intervene in the attack and to save lives with no thought for their own safety. It may be that more would have died or been seriously injured had it not been for their selfless actions.
“I would now like you all to join me in observing a minute’s silence as we pay tribute to the victims of this senseless attack, including both Jack Meritt and Saskia Jones who lost their lives and those who suffered potentially life-changing injuries"
