Rocketman takes to the stage in Telford
This month sees the debut of the new show ‘Forever Elton – The Greatest Hits’ at The Place Telford by award winning film & classical composer (and former stonemason), Phil Mountford and his band.
The shows sees Phil perform stunning homage to the music of Sir Elton John and Bernie Taupin – the most enduringly successful singer/songwriters of their generation. With a back catalogue and sales only exceeded by Elvis and The Beatles, Elton John has been at the forefront of the pop-rock music business for 50 years.
Composer and musician Phil Mountford is no stranger to the Midlands and helped raised a large sum of money for the Cardiology Unit at New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton by organising and performing in a charity concert. The overwhelming success of the concert led Mountford to form his new six piece band, Forever Elton.
Phil hasn’t always been in the spotlight, leaving school at 15 Phil joined the family business as a stonemason for 6 years but later graduated from Aston University to become a software engineer, whilst performing as a keyboardist and vocalist. In 2004 he began writing music for short films, including Norman Wisdom's last film 'Espresso' and went on to compose for feature films. In 2013 he scored the soundtrack to the British crime film 'Vendetta', the most successful non-theatrical DVD release of the year, and has since scored several films including Journey To Le Mans (Patrick Stewart) and Breakdown (Craig Fairbrass).
He continues to compose for theatre, cinema, adverts, television and film, with a new feature film Stalked having just premiered at FrightFest film festival and being released internationally later this year.
Don’t miss your chance to take this greatest hits tour musical journey along the ‘Yellow Brick Road’ via ‘Crocodile Rock’ to ‘Candle in the Wind’.
