Arthog Outreach Centre achieves Gold Standard national safety and quality recognition

The Gold Standard is nationally recognised as a key indicator of not just safety but also high quality of outdoor learning.

Arthog Outreach delivers a variety of adventure and environmental activities both on and off site. With an ethos of “something very special is happening on your doorstep” schools and groups have been enjoying and achieving in the outdoors with the Arthog Outreach team for over 10 years.

These outdoor opportunities have proven memorable for the children and young people leading to learning that really sticks – learning about adventure, about the environment, about each other, and importantly, about themselves.

Now open for school holiday activities, children can spend their days exploring the Shropshire hills, canoeing, orienteering, rock climbing and many more of the endless activities Arthog Outreach offers. All designed to be flexible to suit the needs of the children and make the most of the weather.

The team celebrated their achievement last weekend with an open day at Arthog Outreach, free and open to the public. The open day event received a grant from the council’s Let's Get Telford Active Fund, which aims to provide fun and friendly way for people to develop a love for activity if they are out of practice – or even for people to get active for the first time.

Councillor Rae Evans, Cabinet Member for Customer Services, Partnerships, Culture and Leisure said: “I’ve seen first-hand what an incredible and diverse offer of outdoor activities the team at Arthog Outreach deliver.”

“It’s great they’ve got the recognition and achieved the Gold Standard Badge which reflects their passion for delivering outdoor education to students, and communities in the heart of the borough.”

With this Gold Standard achievement, parents and schools can rest easy that children are in the safe and skilled hands during their outdoor escapades. For more information about Arthog Outreach, visit www.telford.gov.uk/outreach.
