Council cleaning team scoops national award at House of Commons
Telford & Wrekin’s cleaning team have been awarded ‘Cleaning Team of the Year’ by the Association of Building Cleaning Direct Service Providers (ABCD) which saw them collect their award at the House of Commons this week.
The ABCD are cleaning services managers all employed by local authorities across the country and the body aims to promote and encourage best practice among its members.
Following their entry, the Telford & Wrekin team was audited by the ABCD and British Cleaning Council.
They won the cleaning team award for their innovative approach which included savings on cleaning buildings, introducing environmentally friendly cleaning products, training, service growth, window cleaning and working with schools to promote good hand hygiene.
The Telford & Wrekin cleaning team proudly accepted their national award from Jim Fitzpatrick MP, Chair of the Tidy Britain All Parliamentary Group and supporter of the British Cleaning Council.
Kate Sumner, Cleaning Group Manager, said “It’s fantastic to win such recognition the team and the progress we have made in recent months which is helping us to attract and win new business in the borough. I am really proud of the whole team for their part in achieving this award.”
Councillor Lee Carter, Cabinet Member for Finance, Commercial Services & Economic Development said “The team are constantly striving for innovative ways of working such as using environmentally friendly cleaning products and finding new ways to offer extra value to their customers such as their work with schools. It’s great to have some recognition towards this.”
