Postal voting under way in Telford and Wrekin

Telford and Wrekin residents still have time to return their postal votes for Thursday’s local elections.

Postal voting under way in Telford and Wrekin

If you haven’t already put your postal vote in the post, you haven’t missed your chance. Postal votes sent via Royal Mail which have not already been sent might not now arrive in time, but you can still return a postal vote before polling day to Telford & Wrekin Council offices at Addenbrooke House or to your polling station on election day (Thursday 2 May).

Postal ballot papers have been despatched to over 33,000 people living in Telford and Wrekin to have their say in local elections on Thursday (2 May).

Residents in Telford and Wrekin are voting in Borough and Town and Parish Council elections.

Since the ballot papers were issued, the Council has already received more than 17,500 votes – although no votes will be counted before close of poll on 2 May.

All Telford & Wrekin Borough Council wards are being contested on 2 May. However, not all Town and Parish Council wards are being contested.

For those people who did register for a postal vote by the deadline, polling stations will be open from 7am until 10pm on Thursday (2 May). Although it is not necessary, it always helps if voters take their polling cards to the polling station where they will be provided with voting papers.
Some voters may find that their polling station location has changed from previous elections and they should check their polling cards for this information.

Returning Officer for the elections in Telford & Wrekin Richard Partington said: “If anyone still has a postal vote that they haven’t yet posted, I don’t think it can now be guaranteed that we will receive it in time for counting if they just send it back via Royal Mail. The only guaranteed way now to ensure your postal vote will be counted is either to bring it here to Addenbrooke House or to a Polling Station on Election Day”.

If you haven’t received your postal vote, please call us on 01952 383 206 and we can help with a replacement.
