Work to start on care home development
Work is due to start in the next few months on a new 72 bed care home development on a stalled site in the centre of Randlay.
The site already has planning permission and the start of work will enable Randlay’s regeneration to continue to progress.
The parcel of land has recently been acquired from a third party by Wolverhampton-based Icarus Developments, who are going to build the care home and lease it to provider on a long lease.
Stephen Greenhill, director of Icarus Developments, said: “We are delighted to have acquired the site and plan to build the care home in keeping with the current planning permission.
“We can’t put a definite date on work starting but we would expect to be under way within the next few months.
“The build is likely to take about 15 to 18 months to complete. It is a really good site and the perfect location for a new care home. Demand in Telford for the services the home will offer is very high so we expect it to be a big success.”
Dawn Toy, Delivery Manager for Estates & Investments, Telford & Wrekin Council said: “The planned development of this site within the next few months is welcomed and will be in keeping with the wider regeneration of Randlay Centre.
“We will continue to work closely with the new owners and other partners to support the new development to come about as quickly as possible.”
