New unit let to leading hydroponics wholesaler
Telford & Wrekin Council has let a newly constructed unit at the Hortonwood West industrial estate to a leading hydroponics wholesaler and distributor.
Eden Horticulture has moved into Unit 10 because the company is expanding and required further floor space than was available at its Halesfield plant.
The Council purchased the land under the Telford Land Deal from Homes England and developed the plot at Hortonwood West using its approved £50 million Growth Fund monies.
The unit will remain in the Councils property portfolio generating income to support services within the Borough.
The company has created an additional six jobs since moving to the new premises and hopes to create 10 more over the next 2 years.
Councillor Lee Carter, Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet member for Economic Development, said: “We are committed to supporting existing businesses in the borough to expand as well as attracting new inward investment.
“This is a great example of how we are doing that and I wish Eden Horticulture all the best for the future in their new location at Hortonwood West.”
Antony Barrett, of Eden Horticulture said: “We are the UK’s fastest growing hydroponics wholesaler and we have moved to our new facility at Hortonwood West to accommodate the company’s expansion plans
“The move is in keeping with Eden’s continued progress to expand and improve our business and commitment and support to our customers.”
Karl Tupling, General Manager for Homes England in the Midlands, said: “It’s great to see the Land Deal enabling the growth of businesses and in turn the creation of new employment opportunities for local people.”
