Council leader reacts to CQC's SATH concerns
Telford & Wrekin Council’s leader Councillor Shaun Davies has reacted to the news that the Care Quality Commission has raised concerns about patient safety with the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust.
Councillor Davies said: “I note with concern that the Care Quality Commission has raised concerns about patient safety with the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHST Trust.
“This is nothing new to us. Members of staff and patients have been raising concerns consistently with me over many months and I raised this with the government in a letter I sent to the then Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt.
“This has been going on for a long time and it is high time that the government intervened to sort it out, particularly now that their own watchdog has raised its concerns.”
The letters that the council leader sent are reproduced in the links below, together with a response received from government.
