Connect in your community

Community Connectors are volunteers who help people who may feel isolated or lack confidence in accessing community activities.

Connect in your community

They buddy up with people to help them connect with various activities (appointments, courses, volunteering opportunities, shopping, a trip to a café etc), until they feel comfortable and confident to do them independently.

If you would like to volunteer to connect with someone in your community, you will be given training before being matched by our Community Participation Team with a local person who needs support.

What will you get out of it?

  • You get to make a positive difference to someone’s life
  • You get to give something back
  • It can be fun, and you will be part of a growing band of happy volunteers in Telford and Wrekin
  • You might make new friends
  • We cover your expenses

Our next round of training is on 17 October – so if you are interested in finding out more about becoming a Community Connector, then email us at communityparticipationteam@telford.gov.uk or call 01952 382133.
