National Citizenship Scheme

A number of NCS Teams have been working from Wellington Leisure Centre and from outside Meeting Point House in Southwater Square selling cakes and raising money for local charities.

Telford & Wrekin Council leader Councillor Shaun Davies is drawing the raffle this afternoon in Southwater having been invited by NCS to do so.

It’s certainly not true to say that we have refused the NCS use of any of our buildings or public spaces to raise money.

We have advised NCS supervisors that they need to ensure they have the right permissions in place to collect monies for charities. This is simple to do, does not cost and ensures they comply with national legislation.

We have had constructive dialogue with NCS today and we will be meeting with local representatives to help them to ensure their projects in Telford run smoothly.
