Pride in Our Community improvements - week starting 30 July
Here’s what our crews are working on this week. Also details on volunteering and the Telford Community Pride Awards, which are now open for nominations
Roads – highway improvements continue in Milners Lane, Dawley, King Street, Wellington and Fenns Crescent, St Georges. Works also start in Southall Road, Dawley and New Road, Donnington.
Footpaths – improvement work on paths continues in Dawley & Aqueduct, Wrockwardine Wood & Trench and Brookside.
Road lining – road lining crews will be working on a find and fix basis this week at various locations across the borough.
Signing – we have a crew undertaking survey works across the borough this week, collecting information relating to defective signing. A programme of upgrades will then take place following this initial review.
Potholes fixers – ‘Find it Fix it’ crews are filling potholes that have been reported to us. Please report any you spot here or via the Everyday Telford app.
Improving safety around schools - we will be investing £600,000 to improve safety outside schools. This will include a range of road safety and traffic calming measures, including 20mph signing and speed indicator devices.
Street lighting – this evening and overnight crews will be upgrading lights to more energy-efficient LEDs on the A442 Queensway from Hollinswood to Randlay. They will be in Great Dawley all week and from Wednesday to Friday also be working in Wrockwardine, Oakengates and Hadley and Leegomery. If you have a question about street lighting, please email streetlighting@telford.gov.uk.
Wesley Brook footbridge – work to replace the footbridge which links Everglade Road and Priorslee Primary Academy is due to start this Thursday. There will be no access over the bridge during the works, which are expected to take two days. A stretch of the footpath leading from the bridge to the primary school will also be resurfaced, with all of the works completed by 10 August.
Litter picking, grass cutting and pruning – grass cutting is still suspended due to the prolonged dry weather, but crews are continuing to mow shaded and wet areas and other edging and strimming where grass is growing. They are also undertaking various tree works, pruning and street cleansing. Anyone wanting to report an issue with littering in their area can do so here.
Pride in Our Community Street Champions – volunteers are doing a champion job in our communities. To volunteer as a Street Champion in your area email pride.officer@telford.gov.uk. Other volunteering opportunities here.
