The iconicspider’s web has been refurbished as part of the £2m Telford 50 Legacy Fund tocelebrate Telford’s 50th anniversary.


Thousands ofchildren each year play on the spider’s web climbing frame which is at theheart of one of the borough’s top attractions Telford Town Park.


It wasinstalled nearly 20 years ago, however the play equipment had come to the endof its useful life.


A new spider’sweb was installed last week to keep this kids’ favourite play equipment in thetown park for years to come, thanks to the Council’s Telford 50 Legacy Fund.

The new webincludes some new swing seats as part of the frame. 


The Town Parkattracts more than 700,000 visitors each year and the new spiders web will alsoprovide children with years of fun long after the Telford 50 celebrations end.


The new frame hasbeen installed in time for the school summer holidays. The £60,000 investment willprovide Telford and the Town Park with a lasting legacy for generations.

CouncillorRichard Overton, Telford & Wrekin Council’s deputy leader, said: “Thespider’s web is hugely popular with families in the Town Park, and children ofall ages love using it.




“Thanks to theTelford 50 legacy fund many families and children will continue to enjoy thisspecial feature in the town park for years to come and it can continue to bepart of the draw of Telford Town Park which attracts so many people to theborough.”


The £2 million Telford50 Legacy Fund supports a mix of physical schemes as well as other projectsthat help tackle key social issues in the borough and reduce demand on councilservices.
