Pride in Our Community improvements - week starting 18 June

Here’s what our crews are working on this week.

Pride in Our Community improvements - week starting 18 June

Roads – Highway improvements will continue on Hillside Road, Ketley Bank and the A41 Chester Road. Work starts on Parish Close and Church Walk, Dawley and Willowmoor Bank, Wellington Road, Little Wenlock.

Footpaths – Weather permitting, work will continue in Dawley & Aqueduct, Wrockwardine Wood & Trench and Brookside

Road lining – Road lining crews will be working in the Priorslee and St Georges area as well as on a find and fix basis across the borough.

Street lighting – crews are upgrading lights to more energy-efficient LEDs in Wellington, Oakengates, Dawley, Malinslee and Hadley & Leegomery. If you have a question about street lighting, please email streetlighting@telford.gov.uk.

Potholes fixers – ‘Find it Fix it’ crews are filling potholes that have been reported to us. Please report any you spot here or via the Everyday Telford app.

Litter picking, grass cutting and pruning – estate crews are out litter picking and cutting grass in areas around Brookside, Sutton Hill, Woodside, Hollinswood, Randlay, Stirchley, Malinslee, Leegomery and College. There will be extra crews out grass cutting following the prolonged warm spell and wet weather. Crews out pruning will be in Coalbrookdale, Lightmoore, Ironbridge, Woodside, Brookside, Hollinswood and Malinslee. Anyone wanting to report an issue with littering in their area can do so here.

Summer bedding – crews are still out planting in parks and other key sites this week so that we get an abundance of summer colour. Many of the planting schemes are done in partnership with parish and town councils. The photo shows one of the beds planted last week to cheer England on in the World Cup – 1,500 red and white begonias planted in a display depicting the flag of St George in Ketley… C’mon England!

Wellington town centre deep clean – crews are out again this week power washing plus removing graffiti and chewing gum.

Young High Street Challenge – the finals take place at the Telford International Centre on Thursday. Eight schools and around 200 students took up the challenge to come up with an idea to improve the high streets in Wellington, Ironbridge, Oakengates, Dawley, Newport and Madeley. Over the last six months, they have been researching ideas and working up business plans and designs.  On Thursday they pitch their ideas and judges will choose the winner.
