Pride in Our Community work happening this week: 5 March 2018

With most of the snow now gone, its business as usual this week for our crews. Here’s an update on the work happening this week:

Pride in Our Community work happening this week: 5 March 2018

Roads – highway improvement work on the A442 Queensway (Leegomery roundabout to Sparrowhawk Way Junction) continues.  Crews will also be restarting the resurfacing scheme on St Luke’s Road, Doseley to improve the condition of the highway in this area. The road will be closed for the duration of the scheme (access to frontages only), with a full diversion in place around the site.

Road safety schemes – three schemes are being installed this week to improve safety around schools, including work on the A442 through Crudgington (Crudgington Primary School), Pepper Mill (Lawley Primary School) and Ketley Bank (Queenswood Primary School).

Parking – crews will be working in Oxford Road, Dawley to improve parking here. This project is delivered in partnership with The Wrekin Housing Trust.

Street lighting – crews are continuing with upgrading lights to more energy-efficient LEDs in Wellington and Trench before moving to Stirchley and Brookside later in the week.

Potholes – crews are fixing potholes around the borough. Please help by reporting any problems you spot here.

Ironbridge public loos – work to revamp the public loos at the Market Square toilets has started.

Dothill Local Nature Reserve – a 3-week project to create a small area of wetland near the canal pools and restore an historic pond next to Beanhill Brook has started as part of joint working by Telford & Wrekin Council, Shropshire Wildlife Trust, Friends of Dothill Local Nature Reserve, Severn Trent Water and the Environment Agency. Although public access will be maintained throughout this time, there may be restricted access to some footpaths to allow for vehicle movements.

Recycling/rubbish collections – crews managed to collect around 90% during the bad weather last week. They aim to clear any missed collections by the end of play tomorrow, so please leave them out.  Report a missed collection here.
