Council Leader appointed to LGA body

Telford & Wrekin Council leader Councillor Shaun Davies was today in London for his first meeting as a member of a national Local Government Association (LGA) board.

Council Leader appointed to LGA body

Councillor Davies has been appointed/elected to the LGA’s Environment, Economy, Housing and Transport board – which met today in the Westminster Room in Smith Square.


Councillor Davies said: “As a new member of the Board, I am proud to be asked to contribute and I feel it is a big recognition of what we are doing here in Telford and Wrekin.


“The appointment also gives me direct access to decision makers and therefore provides the opportunity to lobby for further investment in our borough.


“In the months ahead, I am looking forward to learning and understanding more about how the LGA works but also providing members with an insight  into the challenges we face in Telford and Wrekin as well as showcasing our many achievements in the months ahead.”


Today the Board discuss flood risk management, waste and recycling and also housing, planning and infrastructure.
