Businesses, come and join the Telford 50 celebrations!
Telford & Wrekin Council is appealing to businesses to help make 2018 a memorable year by getting involved in the Telford 50 celebrations.
Telford is celebrating its 50th birthday this year – a celebration of creativity, innovation and ambition of Telford’s community and businesses.
As part of Telford 50, the Council is calling for borough businesses to play an active part in the celebrations, by showcasing their brand, the work they do and their commitment to creating a better borough.
Telford’s businesses are key to the borough’s future – with many businesses having made their home in Telford over many years, alongside recent major investments that are supporting the borough’s growth, economy and creating more local jobs.
There are plenty of opportunities for businesses to get involved in Telford 50 and make their business visible during the anniversary year.
At the Telford Business Board event on 7 February, the Council has launched “Be Part of Telford 50”, a guide listing all the opportunities for businesses to get involved in the Telford 50 headline events.
The guide can be downloaded from the Telford 50 website.
Paul Hinkins, Chair of Telford Business Board and managing director of Business Watch Guarding Ltd. said “Telford Business Board is really excited to be part of Telford’s 50th anniversary, as this is an excellent opportunity to celebrate the investment, skills and educational opportunities businesses are bringing to Telford and their major role in developing our town”.
“Balloon and Kite Fiesta”, “Carnival of Giants”, “Big Top” and the “Pride of Telford Awards” are some of the events businesses could choose to become a partner of and add value to the celebrations.
Any business wanting to play a part in these events, raise its business profile, support local communities or create a legacy for the town is welcome to contact the Council at telford50@telford.gov.uk
If businesses would like to offer their support to some of the Telford 50 local community events taking place across the borough, the Council has made it easier for them to find those events and link directly with the organisers through a sponsorship matching website www.telford50communitymatching.co.uk.
This is an excellent resource that brings together communities and businesses willing to be associated with these celebration events.
The Council is also looking at other ways to work with local businesses to make the 50th year extra special.
This could be through goods and services, use of advertising space and collaborative projects to benefit people in the borough.
Any business interested in getting involved in these ways or that has its own activities and events planned to celebrate Telford 50 can contact the Council for support at telford50@telford.gov.uk.
Employees from businesses are also welcome to support the celebrations. The Council is recruiting Golden Event Makers (GEMs) for headline and community events and this is a great way for businesses to support the anniversary year and demonstrate their pride in their community.
Councillor Lee Carter, Cabinet member for Finance, Commercial Services & Economic Development said: “Telford 50 is all about celebrating Telford’s many achievements and its exciting future as a developing and growing town.
“Local businesses and their employees are an integral part of our future and we would like to involve them as much as possible in the celebrations, as well as helping them showcase their brand and activities and support the Telford 50 events.”
