Telford Pride @ 50 Celebration Grant – successful applicants get Council’s support

The total value of all applications was more than £200,000, over four times the value of the grant the Council had put aside to support community-led events for Telford 50.

The full list of successful applicants of the Telford Pride @ 50 Celebration Grant can be viewed here  as well as a brief description of their Telford 50 celebration.

When hearing the news of their successful application, Lyndy Boden, Chair of Anstice Community Trust (ACT) said: “The Anstice Community Trust (ACT) are absolutely delighted to be receiving one of the Telford 50 celebration grants. We will be holding a 1960s themed celebration event as well as a photo project collecting new and old images of the community – we are really looking forward to hosting those, especially since The Anstice also marks its own 150th anniversary next year!”

Donnigton and Muxton Parish Council is also delighted to get the Council’s help in organising their Telford 50 anniversary event. A Parish Council spokesman said: “We are delighted to receive a grant from the Council to help support our Telford 50 music festival event on Broadoaks Field in June 2018 and we will be looking for assistance from organisations/groups to help organise the event”.

Cllr Arnold England, Cabinet Member for Communities, Health & Wellbeing, said:
“The response we have had to our Telford Pride @ 50 Celebration Grant has been absolutely amazing.

“We want to thank everyone for their involvement and for the ideas submitted, as these will help make the Telford 50 celebration a truly unique one, with many community-led events taking place.

“We will support all applicants with their Telford 50 events – even those that were unsuccessful will be able to benefit from our resources, such as helping them to find a sponsor and support on how to best market their event.

“The Telford 50 website, www.telford50.co.uk is also a helpful resource anyone can use, with useful information and several toolkits (logo, communication and events toolkits) to help communities with Telford 50 celebrations.”

This autumn, the Telford Pride @ 50 Celebration Grant opened to help fund community celebration events for next year and will complement the 50th birthday events programme organised by the Council.
