Pride in Your Community programme continues with Paths and Pavements
Telford & Wrekin Council’s Paths and Pavements Improvement Project has started this spring, as part of the new Pride in Your Community programme.
This year, more than £20m is being invested by the Council in improving, repairing and making safer roads and streets across Telford and Wrekin.
This includes the installation of energy efficient streetlights and road signs, a programme of road lining improvement, additional investment in repairing local roads and paths and environmental maintenance.
The 2017 Pride in Your Community programme kicks off with a major paths and pavements improvement project, which has started in April. This project aims to improve the condition of existing paths and pavements right across the borough using a specialist treatment which seals the surface, giving a quality finish to deteriorated paths. It will result in an improved appearance as well as extending the life of the paths by around 10 years.
Angie Astley, Assistant Director for Neighbourhood & Customer Services, said: “We are proud to announce our new paths and pavements maintenance project under the Pride in Your Community programme. We have listened to our residents and they have told us that improving paths is one of their main priorities. The work started in April and we will be working our way across the borough over the next 12 months improving those paths and pavements that need attention.”
The Paths and Pavements Improvement Project will be closely followed by our £5.2m Street Lighting LED programme which will see over 20,000 old street lights replaced with new LED lights and old street lighting columns replaced.
