Mayor to present Charity Appeal funds to local cause
At the council’s Annual General Meeting later this week, the outgoing Mayor of Telford & Wrekin, Cllr Arnold England, will present his chosen charity with a cheque for the funds raised during his year in office.
As Mayor of the Borough of Telford & Wrekin during 2023/24, Cllr Arnold England chose to raise money for children in need and care leavers in the borough by supporting Telford and Wrekin CVS, a local charity that works to support and collaborate with communities in Telford and Wrekin for the benefit of all who live here.
Councillor England, who will be handing over the Mayoral Chains of Office later this week but remains a Ward Member for Brookside, said: “It was my absolute honour to represent the people of Telford and Wrekin as Mayor of the Borough over the last twelve months, and to support Telford and Wrekin CVS through the annual Mayor’s Charity Appeal.
“I’m looking forward to presenting a cheque for £5887.85 to Jeni from Telford and Wrekin CVS, raised through kind donations during my year of fundraising. I hope this money will help them to continue to deliver the incredible support they offer to a wide range of local community groups and volunteers.”
Jeni Kuczynska, Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Telford and Wrekin CVS, said: “On behalf of the truly wonderful and inspiring community Telford and Wrekin CVS reaches - Adults and Children, the staff team whom are all invested, hardworking and compassionate and the trustees who challenge the organisation to be continuously aspirational we receive this cheque with upmost pride and gratitude.

The cheque will be presented at Telford & Wrekin Council’s Annual General Meeting, on Thursday 23 May 2024, which will also mark the end of Councillor Arnold’s term as Mayor and see the election of his successor.
The meeting begins at 6pm, is open to the public and will also be live-streamed online.
