Flood grants available for businesses and residents – deadline January 21.
Businesses and residents whose properties were affected by Storm Babet, are being encouraged to apply for a series of grants by Sunday, 21 January 2024.
Storm Babet hit the county between 19-25 October 2023 and due to the scale of its impact, government grants have now been made available to people across the borough.
If you are a business or residential property owner/renter and have internal damage caused by flooding as a result of Storm Babet, you may be eligible for a government grant.
- Up to £500 to quickly help with immediate costs.
- 100% council tax and business rates relief for at least three months.
- £2,500 from the business recovery grant to help small-to-medium sized businesses
- Up to £5,000 to help make homes and businesses more resilient to future flooding
Councillor Lee Carter (Labour), Telford & Wrekin Council Cabinet Member for Place (The Economy & Neighbourhood Services) said: “The impact of the storm triggered the availability of these government-funded grants and we’re encouraging residential and business property owners to come forward, for their cases to be assessed.
“We know the recent flooding continues to affect people across the county. It’s essential our communities have the support they need to recover and get back to normal and do all we can to support those affected.”
