As a part of Telford and Wrekin’s wider Armed Forces Daycelebrations, the council’s annual free family event is planned for Saturday 24June on Broadoaks Playing Field, Donnington from 11am - 4pm.

The event is a great opportunity to have a fun day out withthe family and enjoy all the free entertainment and activities whilecelebrating the work of Telford and Wrekin’s Armed Forces community.

The council supports its local Armed Forces community allyear including serving personnel, their families and veterans by offering arange of support around housing, education, finance, jobs and leisurediscounts. More details can be found at www.telford.gov.uk/armedforcessupport

Councillor Raj Mehta (Labour) Cabinet Member for inclusion,engagement, equalities and civic pride said: “Today and every year we arehonoured to fly the Armed Forces Day flag here in Telford and Wrekin and showour recognition to the whole of our armed forces community.

“We know that there are over 16,000 armed forces personnelin our borough and we will do all that we can to support them all year-round fromoffering leisure discounts to providing welfare and financial support.

“Our Armed Forces Day event next is set to be anotherfantastic event; bringing communities from across the borough together to showour respects the servicemen, women and also their families who are committed toprotecting our country and we hope as many people as possible will join us forthis free event.”
